Game Drive & Boat Cruise on Lake Mburo
This morning begins early, the best time to explore Lake Mburo National Park when animals are most active. After a warm cup of tea or coffee, head into the savannah for a rewarding morning game drive. Lake Mburo is famous for its impressive zebra populations, striking herds of impalas, towering giraffes, elands, topis, buffalos, and several other mammals. You may also spot hyenas returning from a night hunt, and with luck, even a shy leopard relaxing in the acacia thickets. The scenery is beautiful rolling hills, sparkling lakes, and valleys filled with wildlife making it a photographer’s paradise.
You return to the lodge for a hearty breakfast and some leisure time before your afternoon boat ride on Lake Mburo. This peaceful cruise is a highlight of the safari, offering sightings of hippos, crocodiles, and abundant birdlife including fish eagles, kingfishers, herons, and the rare African finfoot. The calm waters reflect the surrounding landscape, creating an enchanting atmosphere perfect for nature lovers. After the cruise, you may take an optional nature walk or simply relax at the lodge. This full day of land and water activities captures the intimate charm that makes Lake Mburo one of Uganda’s most scenic national parks.

After breakfast, you check out and begin your drive to Lake Bunyonyi, often described as one of the most beautiful lakes in Africa. The 3–4 hour drive takes you deeper into southwestern Uganda, with dramatic highland landscapes, terraced hills, small villages, and lush greenery creating a visual feast along the way. As you approach Kabale, the air becomes cooler and the scenery more dramatic before Lake Bunyonyi finally appears glittering between rolling hills, dotted with islands, and surrounded by peaceful communities.
You check in at Bunyonyi Safaris Resort, a comfortable mid-range lodge perched on the hillside with sweeping lake views. Spend the afternoon unwinding on your veranda, listening to birds singing, or exploring optional activities. Canoeing in traditional dugout canoes, guided community walks, swimming (the lake is bilharzia-free), birdwatching, or island visits such as Punishment Island are all available. Day 1
Your 4 Day Lake Mburo & Lake Bunyonyi Safari begins early in the morning as your driver-guide from Ngeye Tours and Travel picks you from your hotel in Kampala or Entebbe. After a briefing, you begin your scenic 4–5 hour journey southwest toward Lake Mburo National Park. The drive offers captivating views of rolling hills, farms, and rural life an excellent introduction to Uganda’s warm countryside. Along the way, you may stop at the famous Equator line for photographs, coffee, and a brief geographical demonstration.
Day 2

You then check out and begin your return journey to Kampala or Entebbe a scenic 6–7 hour drive through western Uganda’s lush landscapes. Along the way, your guide will allow stops for stretching, photography, or lunch at a local restaurant. This route offers a pleasant final glimpse into the country’s countryside charm before entering the central region. You arrive in Entebbe or Kampala in the late afternoon or evening, marking the end of your 4-Day Lake Mburo & Lake Bunyonyi Safari. If you have a flight, your guide will drop you at Entebbe International Airport.
